This set was a very large endeavor for BU, due to the size and complexity of the set. We used garden sprayers to base a large amount of rough hewn wood and then blocked white over the wood to create the old, distressed wood treatment. The set came apart in a variety of ways, creating a lot of entrances for the opera singers. Emmeline is a fairly new opera, which is about a woman who works in the mill factorys of Lowell, MA. It is inspired by Oedipus and told from Jocasta's point of view.
