Inspired by the song, Downtown, by Petula Clark, Downtown was a love story to NYC, and LGBTQ culture. The play took place in a publishing office, a book opening at the Strand, and a gay bar. The design and production team had to source, clean, and hang a lot of liquor bottles. The bottles helped illuminate the space to make it feel like the audience was in a bar and at a drag show, without getting in the way of the limited actor playing space.
