This show takes place at a convenience store that has been recently bought by a large, corporate convenience store brand- The 24. It tells the story of a community going through gentrification, and the impact that has on the local longtime residents. For this set I had to paint a simple tile floor, and old, run down plaster walls. I also had to add bright yellow and blue wall and window decor to show how a name brand store had just pasted their marketing on top of dingy old walls. I also had to find a lot of food and packaging for this show. I got donations from local restaurants and companies (how I found all of the granola bars and chips). I borrowed prop stock from other theatre in town (how I had enough cigarette boxes and other behind the bar items). I also took a trip to costco to buy some of the fridge’s drinks and snacks in bulk.I ordered hooks, printed out labels, created a faux burrito warmer, and found a working old cash register.
